Subtle purple-veined cream flowers in spring, followed by brilliant orange shiny seeds which tend to stay on the plant all winter. A British native, often found in woods. Tolerates very dry shade once established. I have never noticed a bad smell depite its name. 18"

Sow in autumn, overwinter outdoors, germinates in spring. Or mix seed with damp vermiculite, keep warm 3 weeks, put in fridge 6 weeks, then sprinkle mix on compost and put in cool light place
