Pineapple relative from Chile. Extraordinary chartreuse flowers with orange stamens. Slow-growing, may take 10-20 years to flower. Huge clump of narrow evergreen leaves lined with sharp spines. Protect from frost first few years, becomes gradually hardier so that at maturity will take -7C. Needs sun and good drainage 8-12ft
